How to Find (and Customize) Your Custom Zoom Link
If you are tired of digging through old calendar invites or generating random URLs every time you need to hop onto a video call, your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) and Personal Link are total game-changers. Zoom gives every user a permanent virtual room with a static link that never changes, meaning you can easily share it with friends, study groups, or teammates.
Whether you are looking to track down your existing link or set up a custom text-based URL, here is how to find and manage it in just a few steps.
Part 1: How to Find Your Existing Personal Zoom Link
Your permanent room link is stored right inside your Zoom account profile. You can find it using either the web portal or the desktop app:
Method A: Via the Zoom Web Portal
- Go to the official Zoom website and Sign In to your account.
- On your account dashboard, click on Profile in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Scroll down until you see the Personal Meeting ID section.
- Here, you will see your 10-digit PMI number alongside your full Personal Link URL (which usually looks like
[https://your-domain.zoom.us/j/yourcode](https://your-domain.zoom.us/j/yourcode)). - Click Show next to the URL if it is hidden, then click Copy to save it to your clipboard.
Method B: Via the Zoom Desktop App
- Open the Zoom app on your computer.
- Click on the Meetings tab at the top or side panel.
- In the top-right corner of the window, you will see your Personal Meeting ID panel displaying your permanent room details.
- You can click Copy Invitation to grab the full text link ready to paste into a chat or message.
Part 2: How to Customize Your Link
By default, your personal link uses a string of random numbers. If you want something cleaner, more professional, or easier to type out, you can customize your Personal Link alias.
Note: Customizing a personal link typically requires a licensed account tier (such as Education or Business), depending on your organization’s setup.
- Log into the Zoom Web Portal and head to your Profile page.
- Look for the Personal Link row right near your Personal Meeting ID.
- Click the Customize button next to it.
- Type in your preferred text alias (for example, your name or club title). Keep these quick rules in mind:
- It must be between 5 and 40 characters long.
- It must start with a letter and can only include letters, numbers, and periods (
.). - It must be completely unique (common names or generic words might already be taken).
- Click Save Changes, and your new custom URL is ready to share!
